Yama Sugi is a newly built cabin nestled in a quiet suburb in the forest adjacent to Niseko's famous backcountry. It is the perfect base for shredders looking for the ultimate Japanese powder experience with close access to all the local resorts and backcountry zones. It is also a great place for families wanting to experience real Japan away from the tourists, with a plethora of nearby onsens to choose from, space for the kids to play and great local restaurants.

  • Yama Sugi sleeps 4 comfortably across 2 bedrooms.

  • The house has an open kitchen lounge room area, bathroom (which includes the laundry and toilet) and an entry room (known as a genkan) great for drying ski gear in winter, and muddy boots in summer.

    There is a washer/dryer, convection oven, wifi with unlimited downloads, Apple TV with Netflix and Red Bull TV.

  • The Niseko area receives huge snowfalls each year in winter. While staying at this lodge, guests will need to do some snow clearing, including stairs and entrance ways. You must also snow clear the driveway yourself at least daily and on 30cm + days often twice.

    We will clear the rest of the house approximately once per week (depending on snowfall) but you must maintain the driveway. There are snow shovels supplied to do this and it is a great warm up before you go skiing ;)

  • If you are looking for culture, Yama Sugi is centrally located in the hot spring area with a plethora of nearby onsens to choose from and great local restaurants. We will leave a range of recommendations for you in our house information booklet. We will also supply a couple of toboggans so kids and adults alike can have a play on our backyard hill.

    Yama Sugi is 5 mins drive to the Moiwa and Niseko Annupuri ski resorts, 15 mins to Higashiyama, 20 mins to Grand Hirafu, 30 minutes to Hanazono, 35 mins to Rusutsu, 50 mins to Kiroro and 2 hours to Sapporo. It is also just 10 minutes drive from some of the best backcountry terrain in Hokkaido.

  • Yama Sugi is located in Rankoshi, Isoya District, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. You really need to hire a car to stay at our house. There are no public transport options at our house and it is not walking distance from the resorts.

    • 90 calendar days or more before the first night booked – 90% refund of all payments.

    • Within 90 days of the first night booked – 50% refund on nightly rate.

    • Within 30 days of the first night booked – 0% refund on nightly rate.

    • On cancellation of the above, any bond and cleaning fees paid which is in excess of the nightly rate will be refunded in full.

    • In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, including but not limited to an earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, pandemic, nuclear meltdown or war that causes us to cease our entire operations or which means you are unable to undertake your holiday due to flight cancellations or travel restrictions, accommodation dates will be transferrable to another date without additional cost. This does not limit your option to request a refund as provided above.

  • We ask you to pay in full in advance, and then we adhere to our cancellation policy as above.

    You are also required to pay a refundable ¥30,000 bond (security deposit). If you or your guests cause any damage to the property during your stay then this bond will be used to cover the costs of the damage.

    If the costs of damage exceed the bond amount you remain responsible for the full cost of the damage.
